4/8/2022

NIAGARA FALLS, NEW YORK—BUFFALO, NEW YORK—SALAMANCA, NEW YORK: (June 9, 2020) After 15 weeks of closure due to the novel coronavirus crisis, Seneca Resorts & Casinos is pleased to announce Phase I of its return to operations will begin Thursday, June 18 with the opening of Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino.

Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino is the only Seneca Resorts & Casinos property to open at this time, with strict protocols in place to protect the health and safety of guests and team members alike, including limited slot machines, no table games and minimal food and beverage service and seating to promote social distancing. Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino’s phased opening is set for Thursday, June 25 with Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino opening the following week on Thursday, July 2.

“After this unprecedented and unsettling time in our community, we look forward to welcoming back our dear guests and friends,” said David Sheridan, Interim CEO and CFO, Seneca Gaming Corporation. “The health and safety of our team members, guests, and their families continues to be our highest priority.”

During this closure, which began on March 16, the Seneca Resorts & Casinos team has established a comprehensive plan informed by public health experts and CDC guidance to adapt all front-facing and back-of-house procedures to maintain a safe and fun environment. The plan, which can be accessed in full here SenecaNiagaraCasino.com includes protocols for social distancing, disinfecting measures, and wellness screenings for both team members and guests.

“We are confident in opening Seneca Resorts & Casinos in phases while implementing the most comprehensive steps across all of our departments to ensure an effective return to operations while protecting everyone in the facility,” Sheridan said. “We look forward to reconnecting with our extended Seneca family…from a distance.”

“In addition to all of our guest communications, we are outlining all of our new internal procedures and protocols to our team members through extensive training,” said Lori V. Quigley, Chairwoman, Seneca Gaming Corporation Board of Directors. “We will be closely monitoring these procedures and protocols, and we will take a measured approach as we expand our offerings after successfully opening this initial phase.”

Highlights of the Phase I reopening plan include:

  • Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino will operate at reduced capacity in order to maintain social distancing for guests and employees.
  • Hotel operations as well as the spa and salon will remain closed.

Niagara Casinos announced the following on Tuesday:

Niagara Casinos is excited that with Monday's provincial announcement the Niagara Region is allowed to enter stage three on Friday, July 24. This is a great step forward as a province and region and we look forward to welcoming our guests and associates back soon.

As the province has announced, casinos are permitted to reopen in stage three, but with significant restrictions in place. We are currently reviewing the reopening requirements and how the capacity restrictions will impact the reopening of our casino properties. For this reason, Fallsview Casino Resort and Casino Niagara will not be reopening on Friday, July 24.

'We are excited that Niagara is able to take the step forward into stage three this Friday, and we continue to move closer to a day that we can reopen our doors to our guests and associates' said Richard Taylor, president of Niagara Casinos. 'Our teams have been working incredibly hard to get our properties ready to reopen and ‘Safe to Play.’ We are reviewing the stage three restrictions and what they mean for our reopening plans. While we are not reopening this Friday, we look forward to welcoming back our guests soon.'

The health and safety of our guests and associates is of the highest priority. We are working collaboratively with the Canadian Gaming Association, Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG), the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), Niagara Region Public Health and Emergency Services, Infectious Disease Prevention experts and members of our joint health and safety committee to implement all health and safety protocols for the protection of all staff and customers. Examples include:

√ Physical distancing of at least two meters (achieved in part by admitting fewer customers);

√ The use of face coverings for customers and employees;

√ Ensuring the availability of alcohol-based hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes for customers;

√ Implementing (where effective and possible) physical barriers such as clear plastic partitions;

√ Enhanced cleaning and disinfection, particularly of high-touch surfaces, bathrooms and shared equipment;

√ Signage and communication to reinforce all health and safety protocols;

√ Employee health screening tools including temperature kiosks; and

√ COVID-19 health and safety training for all staff.
